Bunnytudes
I think Piglet is starting to feel at home here. How do I know this? He's starting to show a bit of a 'tude. Not only did he thump for some reason or other a couple days ago, but he gave both me and John the bunny finger tonight AND growled at me when I went into his cage to clean up poop. How dare I!
Earlier today, he felt comfortable enough to run around my room and binky. Plus, he clicks his teeth when I pet him. So I'm not COMPLETELY offensive to him, thank goodness.
Oh, and Anna escaped her pen tonight. I heard a large, metallic ruckus in the den, and when I went to investigate, she was outside her fence. I tried to grab her behind the litter bin, but she thumped at me and ran away. I finally cornered her by the bar, laughing my ass off. I'm too easily entertained by misbehaving bunnies.
John has a reputation as a good photographer, particularly with bunnies, so I hope no one is too disappointed with my quick, non-color-corrected pictures. Being lazy about image correction is sometimes the only way I can avoid procrastination, and you all know how good I am at procrastination.
Anyway, that's just my disclaimer for today's batch of images, which have only had a quick once-over with the patch tool to remove errant (or in the case of Piglet, excessive) bunny poop.
Piglet, uninterested in his mini-wheats box yesterday, was sitting in it this morning when I came downstairs. He spent the entire morning sitting in it, but still preferred sleeping outside the box when it came time to nap. Which he spent the afternoon doing, legs all tucked in (we call it a bunny ball) and teeth clicking. He got up periodically to groom, eat a few pellets, or use the litterbox. And he seems to have gotten the hang of the litterbox again.
I started leaving the cage door open for Piglet when I'm in the room so he can get out and explore. He's still a little timid, but has claimed the door of his carrier multiple times via chinning and thought it would be fun to toss my staple remover around. I don't think he's crazy about the camera, as you can tell from some of the pictures where he hid in his box. But he's going to have to get used to it in this house.
As for Cinnamon and Brinco, Brinco had a little bit of a mishap last night. He was doing his usual "I'm going to hide behind the cottage and make you chase me!" game before going into the cage to get his treat, and on his way out, he had to pass through two cardboard tubes which happened to be sitting end to end. When he hit the second tube, his momentum caused the tube to roll around with him in it, causing much flailing and panic. When he finally made it out, he ran into the cage, giving the bunny finger to the mean tube. A couple of craisins quickly cleared up any remaining mental trauma. Crisis averted.
Cinnamon was pettable this morning, and when Brinco hopped past (he likes to push my hand away from Cinnamon when I'm petting her), I paused to pet Brinco's head. A moment later, a disgruntled Cinnamon lunged at Brinco, causing him to hop away quickly. She wasn't about to share petting time.
Enough with the stories, time for the pictures!

Bunny bonanza!
Right now we have four bunnies in the house -- Cinnamon and Brinco, Anna the foster lop, and Piglet, who belongs to our friend Mary. We're bunnysitting while she's on vacation for a couple of months. Piglet arrived last night and we set him up in my computer room. Anna has been here for about a week and a half.
In honor of our bunnyfull household, and to keep Mary up-to-date on the status of her rabbit, I'm going to update this blog more often. Lucky you.
So now...pictures! We'll start off with Cinnamon and Brinco. Cinnamon has had two main hobbies lately -- flopping and digging. The latter activity usually means it's nail cutting time. We tried that, and it held her off for a couple of weeks. Now she's back to the incessant digging, except she's (thankfully) sticking to the rarely-used second shelf litterbox.
Speaking of that litterbox, she got a little too zealous with it during her first round of digging. I heard an insane amount of noise from upstairs, and when I went to check it out, I found this:
Oh no!More accurately, she had it propped on its (shorter) side and was digging like crazy. Brinco is just there for the show or something. Cinnamon thought the upside-down litterbox was pretty cool,
as you can see.
This is what I got to clean up. Thank God for the Shopvac!
Now for the flopping.

snuggling, for good measure.
Brinco has been much more social since we got back from Florida. He is often pettable, something that happened only rarely before January. John can even pet his head to the floor! This is quite amazing.
And then there's Anna. Anna is our foster lop, and she has quite the attitude. This bunny is one of the most pettable rabbits I've ever met. She wants to be petted constantly, and will rest her head on my lap when I pet her. If I stop, she'll either shove her head under my hand or nibble my clothes. Once in a while, when we walk past her pen, she'll jump up and cling to the top of the fence. She even managed to vault over, landing on top of the Shopvac which was sitting two feet away from the fence!
She tends to be a little cage aggressive, but has gotten much better since she's become familiar with me. She's also working on her litterbox training, but has improved in that department, too. She's going on a bunny date this weekend, so I hope everything goes well!
Here are some images of Anna:
Flop!PettableHer sleeping spotAnd last but not least, Piglet. Although he has a reputation of being impeccably litter-trained, he's decided that his new cage requires a poop treatment. That's rabbits for you. We put a mini-wheats box in his cage for him to hide in, but he doesn't seem too interested in it. Although we put a craisin in it earlier, and the craisin is now gone. Hmmm...
Piglet pictures:
"What is that strange light in my face?""Do you mind?"He looks like a miniature Brinco. Right now, he's laying between his food/water bowls and his mini-wheats box, ears back. He even let me pet him today. :)
Stay tuned for more exciting stories from the bunny house!
