Piddle paws

Dead bunny on the floor
Half of what I talk about in here seems to be litter habits, and that's disgusting, I know. But bear with me, and I'll put some non-bathroom type stuff at the end.
So here's how we ended up fixing the litterbox digging problem, the short version (some of these steps were outlined in previous entries):
1) Replace the two small and shallow litterboxes with one deep litterbox.
Problem: Back corner of the cage too small for a second litterbox, but big enough for the rabbits to use as a potty.
2) Block off the back corner of the cage that no longer has a litterbox.
Problem: Rabbits decide corner outside cage near hay rack is a good toilet spot (they like to potty while eating hay, which is why the hay rack is by the inside litterbox).
3) Put another deep litterbox outside the cage in the corner near the hay rack.
Problem: Piddle paws (explained below).
4) Put a mat next to the outside litterbox.
Problem mostly solved...
I will now explain the concept of "piddle paws." You see, when a litterless spot forms on the bottom of the litterbox, for various reasons such as digging or during a litter change, there is nothing to absorb the pee. And bunnies don't exactly have the ability to wipe their paws before jumping out and tracking said pee all over the carpet. So we get lovely footprints made out of pee and have to clean them up.
This problem was mainly solved by putting the mat down, as well as Cinnamon's newfound disinterest in digging (after I put all that work into allowing for her digging...grrrr). But last night, in the two-minute window while I was changing the litterbox, there was a small bare spot. Cinnamon apparently could not wait a single second, and proceeded to pee on that exact spot. And with her huge fuzzy feet, it was like a sponge effect. We had to get rid of many of the phone book pages lying around the room (as well as several pages that were still in the phone book). And clean the carpet.
So the moral of the story is that Cinnamon is evil.
Here's the non-pee stuff I promised:
I found a shirt in my closet that had a hole in it, so I threw it into the hallway to take down to the sewing room. It sat there for several days because I am lazy. Well, the hallway outside our room is also right outside the bunny room. John saw my shirt disappearing underneath the bunny room door. He opened it to find Brinco, looking guilty.
More bunny stories later!
