Lots of updates

I've been kind of overwhelmed with the vast amount of bunny stuff that's been going on in the house lately, both good and bad. I posted some of this on my personal journal, so there may be some repeat information for some of you.

1) There was a bunny injury this month. It took us a few days and a couple of vet visits to figure out what happened (our only clue was intermittent blood spots on the carpet) and we think that Cinnamon bit Brinco while he was humping her head. It turned out that the wound would bleed whenever Brinco got...excited. The solution was to separate the bunnies and stop the behavior long enough for him to heal. He's fine now, but the separation was difficult for both of them. Read on.

2) During the separation, we kept Cinnamon outside the cage and Brinco inside the cage. When we tried it the opposite way, Brinco completely freaked out when he couldn't get into the cage. Whereas Cinnamon didn't get as upset. Well, that didn't mean that she didn't want to get into the cage.

One morning, six days into the separation, I woke up, went into the bunny room, and was unable to find Cinnamon. I looked inside the Cottontail Cottage, the box, and the cage. No Cinnamon. I thought she must have jumped the fence and was behind the couch or something. Then, I heard some rustling. I looked over and saw this wretched looking brown lop stuck by the side of the cage. The area in question is about six inches wide, but is blocked off by paneling in order to prevent this very problem. The only thing we can figure is that she somehow squeezed behind the cage, which would involve her passing through a two inch wide space.

She was fine. The carpet was pretty torn up and there was some poop back there. Also, since Cinnamon was probably stuck there for a good amount of time, she wasn't able to...well...consume her cecal pellets (look it up if you don't know what that is -- basically, rabbits eat their poop). I originally thought she'd given herself bowel upset from stress, but I think it was just the cecals. Also, she was extremely hyper for about the next hour. Extremely.

Cinnamon was just missing Brinco, so we decided to put them back together. Since then, there have been no more problems.

3) Both of the bunnies have been extremely happy -- Cinnamon was running and binkying the other night. She leapt and turned in place when I started talking silly to her. It is so hilarious to see a lop-eared rabbit zooming around the room, ears flapping. She's also been even more pettable than usual lately. However, Brinco still won't let us pet him. He doesn't have any problem flopping out right in front of us, though.

That's about all. I need to trim their nails very soon.
